Proudly last week we gathered Egypt’s successful online content creators in one place!

And for The first time in Egypt the event was Live streamed with HD!

Insideout.Today, previously called Interact Egypt, proudly organized on June 15th Egypt’s First Online content creators meetup at the prestigious AUC new Cairo Campus in partnership with our educational Partner Entrepreneurship and innovations at AUC and gladly we had also RiseUp Egypt supporting us during this event.

The audience were around 80 with interesting diversity from bloggers, graphic designers, photographers, online Journalists, video creators, community managers, social media specialists, and more!

  • Following the welcome speeches Fady Ramzy presented the latest about content supported by technology and giving hints about the types of online content and the latest trends in content creation such as the infographics and how to create valuable online content. And he also discussed the linked open data and the semantic web (“CONTEXT” IS NOW THE KING) and he advised the attendees to tryout wordlift to semantically enrich their blogs & websites over wordpress platform.

And also Fady Ramzy announced in this event that gladly Insideout.Today will be hosting a Twitter chat each 2 weeks for one hour on #IOTTT to answer people questions about the latest technology and to share experiences and latest digital media trends.

 

 

Finally the coolest part of the event was the panel discussion featuring entrepreneurs, online content creators & media anchors who have online content success stories to be shared with the audience as follows:

  1. Sherry Kilany and Sabrina Khalil from scoopempire showcasing the story behind #Kashmagy video (the Egyptian Version of happy) and how it hit more than 1 million online views with the great cooperation with disalata!
  2. Amir Shoushaa the Man behind (Asa7be sarcasm society) talked about the comics business in Egypt and how (Asa7be sarcasm society) Started , how they produce the online content and how they built Asa7be out of comics.
  3. Abdel Rahman Wahba The founder of Iqraaly presented the Iqraaly unique platform and how they aim to deliver rich audible content through the audiobooks
  4. Amr Shahin From Akhbar El Yom presented a demo of augmented reality for enriching the news experience and as well the ads, done by Akhbar El Yom, and the impact of this AR technology to switch the offline newspaper Akhbar el yom to a digital newspaper.
  5. And the final speech was given by Enas Tharwat the popular radio anchor from Negoum FM & Radio 90 90 talking about how social media impacts the media business.

The meetup was also an excellent opportunity for attendees to network in a professional environment and interact with others who share the passion for great content creation, brainstorm and to have their questions answered by the panelists and the event organizers.

7th MIT Enterprise Forum Arab Startup Competition in Cairo!

Massachusetts Institute of Technology Enterprise Forum (MITEF) of the Pan Arab Region held It’s annual Arab Startup Competition at the AUC New Cairo Campus for the first time!

“The MIT Enterprise Forum of the Pan Arab Region has been holding its competition for several years, and this year it is their biggest ever,” said Ayman Ismail, assistant professor and Abdul Latif Jameel Endowed Chair of Entrepreneurship at AUC’s School of Business. “We are celebrating a large number of Arab startups, and Egypt has the highest number of startups represented as finalists.”

The event took place at the collaborating American University in Cairo’s School of Business New Cairo Campus for 3 days from May 20th to May 21st 2014 with a condensed program as follows:

Workshop: May 20th-21st, 2014

Following 4 months of preparations and working toward achieving common deliverables, the 50 semi-finalists of the Ideas & Startups tracks sat for a 3-day training covering topics such as business planning, sales, finance, marketing, elevator pitching, presentation skills, etc.

Final Award Ceremony: May 22nd , 2014

In a big ceremony at the American University of Cairo attended by over 800 people, including Hala Fadel, Chair of the MIT Enterprise Forum of the Pan Arab Region, Fady Jameel, President of Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiatives International, Dr. Karim Seghir, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies and Administration, at AUC’s School of Business, and Bill Aulet, Managing Director of the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, USA.

The ceremony started with a great musical performance by Adrian Anantawan followed by welcome address and opening remarks by Hala Fadel and Dr. Karim Seghir

Then an inspiring key note by Bill Aulet

Followed by great fire side chat and panel discussions, and a short movie for the 3 days workshop and judging panel.

The winners were announced at the end of the ceremony and they got great rewards such as trip to Silicon Valley or cheques for funding their ideas

Winners of the cash prizes of over $100,000 in the idea, start-up and social entrepreneurship tracks were from Sudan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Lebanon, and Jordan.

In addition to the Start-ups and Ideas Track, three women-led start-ups were rewarded a trip to Silicon Valley, sponsored by Google for Entrepreneurs.

Also awarded were three start-ups who proved to have the best social impact receiving $10,000 each from ALJCI, Mercy Corps and Skoll Foundation.
