Introducing version 3.4"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>We love the Web.\u00a0<span>We&#8217;ve been using the Internet\u00a0in various forms since the 90&#8217;s. <\/span><span>We believe that the increasing amount of information should be structured beforehand\u00a0by the same individuals\u00a0that create the content.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>With this idea in mind and\u00a0willing to empower journalists and bloggers\u00a0we&#8217;ve created WordLift: a semantic editor for WordPress.<\/p>\n<p>With the latest release (version\u00a03.4)\u00a0we are\u00a0introducing\u00a0a Dashboard to provide\u00a0<strong>a quick overview of the website&#8217;s\u00a0Knowledge Graph<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1231 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.insideout.io\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/02\/dashboard-wordlift-1.png\" alt=\"dashboard-wordlift\" width=\"473\" height=\"377\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>What the heck is a\u00a0Knowledge Graph?<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Knowledge Graphs are all around us. Internet giants like Google, Facebook, LinkedIn and Amazon they are all running their own Knowledge Graphs and\u00a0willingly or not we are all contributing\u00a0to them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Knowledge Graphs are\u00a0networks of all kind of things which are relevant to a specific knowledge domain\u00a0or within an organization. They contains\u00a0abstract concepts and relations as well as\u00a0instances of all sort of &#8216;things&#8217; including persons, companies, documents and\u00a0datasets.<\/p>\n<p>Knowledge Graphs are <strong>intelligent data models made of\u00a0<\/strong><span><strong>descriptive metadata<\/strong> that can be used\u00a0to\u00a0categorise contents. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span><em>Why should You\u00a0bring all\u00a0your\u00a0content and data in a Knowledge Graph?<\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The answer is simple. <strong>You want\u00a0to be relevant for your audience<\/strong>. A Knowledge Graph allows machines (including voice-enabled assistants, smartphone apps and search crawlers) to\u00a0<span>make complex queries over the entirety of your content. Let&#8217;s break this down into benefits: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Facilitate smarter and more relevant search results and recommendations<\/li>\n<li><span>Support\u00a0intelligent personal assistant\u00a0like Apple Siri and Google Now understand natural language requests by providing the needed vocabulary to identify content<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Get richer\u00a0insights on how content is performing and is\u00a0being received by the\u00a0audience. Someone calls it <a href=\"https:\/\/moz.com\/blog\/semantic-analytics\">Semantic Analytics<\/a> (<em>more on this topic soon<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>Sell advertising more wisely by providing in-depth context to advertising networks<\/li>\n<li>Create\u00a0new services that drive reader engagement<\/li>\n<li>Share (or sell) metadata to\u00a0the rest of the World<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>So what makes WordLift special<\/h4>\n<p><strong>WordLift allows anyone to build his\/her own Knowledge Graph<\/strong>. The plugin\u00a0adds <strong>a layer of structured metadata<\/strong> to the content you write on WordPress. Every article is classified with named entities and these classifications are used to provide relevant recommendations that\u00a0boost the\u00a0articles\u00a0of your site with widgets like the <a href=\"http:\/\/docs.wordlift.it\/en\/latest\/discover.html#the-navigator-widget\">navigator<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/docs.wordlift.it\/en\/latest\/discover.html#the-faceted-search-widget\">faceted search<\/a>. There is more.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>deep vocabulary<\/strong> can be used to understand natural language requests like &#8211; &#8220;<em>Who is the founder of company [X]?&#8221;<\/em>. Let&#8217;s dig deeper.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/askplatyp.us\/?lang=en&amp;q=Who+is+the+founder+of+Microsoft%3F\">Here<\/a> is an example that uses a\u00a0<span>generalist question answering tool\u00a0called\u00a0<\/span><em><a href=\"http:\/\/askplatyp.us\/\">Platypus<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.insideout.io\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/02\/platyp.gif\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1221\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1221 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.insideout.io\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/02\/platyp.gif\" alt=\"platyp\" width=\"938\" height=\"671\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Playtypus<\/em>\u00a0leverages on the Wikidata Knowledge Graph.\u00a0Now if I would ask &#8220;<em>Who is the founder of Insideout10?<\/em>&#8221; Wikidata, would probably politely answer &#8220;<em>I&#8217;m sorry but I don&#8217;t have this information<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Now, the interesting part is that, for this specific question,\u00a0<strong>this same blog holds the correct answer<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As named entities are\u00a0described along with their properties I can\u00a0consult the metadata about <a href=\"http:\/\/lodview.it\/lodview\/?IRI=http:\/\/data.redlink.io\/91\/be9\/entity\/insideout10\">Insideout10<\/a>and eventually have applications like Platypus run a SPARQL query on my graph.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.insideout.io\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/02\/redlink.gif\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1272\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1272 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.insideout.io\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/02\/redlink.gif\" alt=\"redlink\" width=\"700\" height=\"590\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This query returns two entities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/lodview.it\/lodview\/?IRI=http:\/\/data.redlink.io\/91\/be9\/entity\/andrea_volpini\">http:\/\/data.redlink.io\/91\/be9\/entity\/andrea_volpini<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/lodview.it\/lodview\/?IRI=http:\/\/data.redlink.io\/91\/be9\/entity\/david_riccitelli\">http:\/\/data.redlink.io\/91\/be9\/entity\/david_riccitelli<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Who owns the data?<\/h4>\n<p>The site owner does. Every website has its own graph published on\u00a0<strong>data.wordlift.it\u00a0<\/strong>(or any\u00a0custom domain name you might like) and <strong>the creator of the website holds all\u00a0licensing rights of\u00a0his\/her data<\/strong>. In\u00a0the next upcoming release a dedicated <strong>rights statement<\/strong> will be added to all graphs\u00a0published with WordLift (here you&#8217;ll find <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/insideout10\/wordlift-plugin\/issues\/105\">the details of this issue<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h4>So how big is this graph?<\/h4>\n<p>If we combine all existing beta testers we\u00a0reach a total of <strong>37.714 triples<\/strong> (this being the unit of measurement of information stored in a Knowledge Graph). Here is a chart representing this data.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1YLPE55Dbm23B2SuV7WKhwjBEb2eaX5QE5rTn2BvwfVQ\/pubchart?oid=716420116&amp;format=image\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"371\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While this is a very tiny fraction of the World&#8217;s knowledge (Wikidata holds\u00a0<span>975.989.631 of triples<\/span>\u00a0&#8211; here is <a href=\"http:\/\/tinyurl.com\/hzkfbfl\">a simple query<\/a> to check this information on their systems) it is relevant for the readers&#8217; of this blog and contributes to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ibmbigdatahub.com\/infographic\/four-vs-big-data\">veracity<\/a> of big data (&#8220;<em>Is this data accurate?&#8221;<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n<blockquote><p>Happy blogging!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We love the Web.\u00a0We&#8217;ve been using the Internet\u00a0in various forms since the 90&#8217;s.
