Online marketing awareness in Egypt

Do we have good knowledge about it?!

Although ancient Egypt was the first in history to do outdoor advertising where Egyptians carved on walls, and also although the modern Egypt was the 2nd most addictive country on Facebook after the revolution, but ….. still we do not many interesting cases of utilizing online marketing channels in different business aspects. The main issue here is the lack of professional training & education for business professionals on how to use E-marketing, where everyone just thinks a daily Facebook post on the brand’s fan page saying “good morning” will do the job!

Here we found our responsibility to enter that scene and we, as Interact Egypt, participated in lots of educational events about online marketing where our country manager Fady Ramzy was speaker there, like Social media for travel (Alexandria 2013) , Social Media day Egypt (Alexandria 2013), E-marketing for entrepreneurs (Cairo 2012) and many other events also abroad including Kuwait and Kenya.

10259797_677778745612591_920278089590513289_nFinally, last weekend, we joined Egyptian Council of Training and Development the ECTD At One of the greatest Universities in Egypt, the British University (BUE) in giving a 5 days seminar about E-marketing and social media. Seminar speakers were Fady Ramzy and Hesham Shata Strategic Business Development of Think Marketing Magazine

The Training Course is first of it’s kind to take place in Egypt as it’s an intensive online marketing Course for 5 day!

The Training dates and topics:

  • Day 1 (25/04/2014): Introduction to Online Identity
  • Day 2 (26/04/2014): Social Media for Business
  • Day 3 (01/05/2014): Beyond social networks (to be delivered)
  • Day 4 (02/05/2014): The art and science behind online influence (to be delivered)
  • Day 5 (03/05/2014): The Mobile Era and Group exercise (to be delivered)

so Let’s dig into more details about what happened in day 1 and 2

Day 1: The Online Identity

Fady explained the basics to establish a professional  online identity:me

  • Understanding your customer language
  • Some wrong practices for digital marketing in Egypt
  • The concept of online identity and the different digital marketing channels
  • The three pillar of digital marketing
  • A final conclusion

And the major advices highlighted during day one:

  • Unify your online Identity: You Can’t succeed online without building a proper unified online identity with a proper planning
  • Content is King: Plan your content and always choose the right type of content according to the type of your business and the customers and fans needs
  • Engagement is King Kong: No Engagement without listening and no listening without engagement
  • Call to action: always close your content with a call to action to spread your content and generate sales lead and the most important it will enable you to measure how effective is your content
  • Plan, Do, Check, Act! it’s your ears to understand the customers geography and his needs and also it’s your eyes to measure how effective is your content
  • Monitor competitors activities as it will help you know where are you standing from the market

Day 2: Social Media for Businesshesham shata 2nd day

Hesham explained the best practices  for business and he presented some case studies:

  • World most valuable brand: discussing those brands  performance on social media giving the example of apple
  • Case studies for social media best practice: he presented case studies for social media from failure stories like the Egyptian Tourism authority case to top successful stories like Nola cup cake and Coca Cola shaga3 helmak case
  • The Factors that drive people to share content on social media
  • How to handle the The social media crisis and he gave example of McDonalds crisis
  • The Real Time engagement: and the greatest example was the super active attendee @chigoga with her best selfie tweeted on #sm_seminar during the training and the reply of think marketing magazine to her tweethager selfie star

 

 

 

 

 

 

And the major advices Hesham highlighted at Day 2:

  • Do not panic from social media
  • Keep and open mind and be brave enough to engage
  • Target you audience with effective planning
